Manifesto

Here are my six principles for creating your perfect home.

Generosity

Your home is a gift. I’m designing with you in mind. But, of course, I couldn’t design something that I don’t love for myself.

Originality

Some claim we live in a “copy paste” era; but, that’s no excuse not to have original ideas. Each element in your home is fresh and never-been-done before, combined with a great respect for the work of architects and designers across history. Great design transcends time by honoring it. You can’t look forward without taking the time to look back and see whose footsteps you’re following in.

Simplicity

My design ethos is reﬁned and reduced, but not minimalistic. There is a tribute to honest materiality and a deep reverence for light and space. Your home is like a single, simple sentence.

Integrity

From conception to creation, preserving the integrity of an idea is central to great design. Each material is chosen with care and each element is designed with great respect — for your home, and for you. Above all, design should be honest.

Independence

Being independent has always been very important to me, which is why I like boxes, systems, and set things that are self-sufﬁcient. And that’s what I love about the studio set: It’s a jewel box ﬁlled with only the essentials — beautiful basics for a self-sufﬁcient home.

Freedom

Sometimes the greatest luxury is room to breathe. At its core, a beautiful home is a place where joyful surprises, simple pleasures and complicated moments — can unfold. A home should provide comfort in its beauty and in its simplicity. Great design empowers you.

About

Clémande’s unique sense of beauty, design, and style has been largely informed by her unusual upbringing. Growing up traveling with her antique dealer parents between rural France, Paris, and the mediterranean island of Ibiza, Clémande’s life experience oscillated between the nonchalance.

After high school Clémande first studied comparative literature at the Sorbonne in Paris, where Nobel Laureate Elie Wiesel tutored her. She also found the time to open her eponymous design gallery, still operational to this day, and to launch a successful handbag insouciant attitude of an itinerant hippie life, the bourgeois bohemian flair of the big city, and the strict elegance of catholic boarding schools.
